JustGiving Developer Terms of Use

We’re delighted you’d like to use JustGiving to build #techforgood. By using any of our APIs or associated services you are agreeing to our Developer Terms and Conditions as outlined below and to comply with all applicable laws. Use of our APIs is at your own risk. If your app requires users to create JustGiving accounts, you’ll need to make sure that each user: (i) accepts JustGiving’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy; and (ii) is presented with the option of opting-in to receiving JustGiving marketing communications. For all apps, we ask that your app:

  • Is as creative and as imaginative as it can be.
  • Respects our brand guidelines at all parts of the user journey.
  • Respects and complies with our Privacy Policy.
  • Handles all information responsibly.
  • Does not complicate the user experience or misrepresent the JustGiving service.
  • Uses the right environment (Production / Staging). Please note that data in the Staging is available to other users and we reserve the right to remove data from the Staging if required.
  • Uses the latest version of the JustGiving API – we reserve the retire old versions.
  • Does not change any data that a JustGiving API returns.
  • Does not misuse our service - we actively monitor all of our APIs.


    So that you can go live as soon as possible, we generally do not approve your application. However, we do reserve the right to block access to our service or any particular application if it does not comply with our Developer Terms and Conditions or these guidelines.


    JUSTGIVING API TERMS OF SERVICE Version Date: 13th April 2022. The JustGiving API (the application program interface and other materials provided by JustGiving) (the "JustGiving API") is a service that allows you to include JustGiving features in applications and websites. JustGiving is a trading name of Giving Limited (company number 03979990) whose registered office is at Studio 1.19, Canterbury Court, 1-3 Brixton Road, London, SW9 6DE ("JustGiving"). All use of the JustGiving API and every agreement for the use of the JustGiving API ("Agreement") is subject to these terms and by interacting in any way with the JustGiving API, including but not limited to requesting access to the JustGiving API authorisation key or making API calls, you or the entity or company that you represent ("You") unconditionally consent and agree to be bound by and a party to these terms and any revised or new versions of these terms as may be published on our website or as notified to You from time to time (collectively referred to as the "Terms"). These Terms are very important and You should read them very carefully and print or save a copy of them for future reference. If You do not accept all of these Terms then You are not authorised or permitted to use the JustGiving API. We may, at our sole discretion, change these Terms at any time. We will make new versions of these Terms available at [http://apimanagement.justgiving.com/] or by otherwise notifying You of the revised Terms. If You use the JustGiving API at any time after these Terms have changed then You will be deemed to have accepted the new version of these Terms. If You do not accept the changes then You should cease to use the JustGiving API and this Agreement will automatically terminate. By using the JustGiving API you are also agreeing to the practice detailed in the JustGiving privacy policy at www.justgiving.com/info/privacy/. This policy outlines how JustGiving collects and uses your personal information and protects your privacy for use of the JustGiving API.

    1. CERTIFICATION
    If You want to use the JustGiving API then You should apply for an Access API Code ("Access Key") at [http://apimanagement.justgiving.com/]. JustGiving will then consider your application and if accepted (at its sole discretion) will supply you with the Access Key and You can build Your application. Once your application is complete you should submit it to JustGiving and JustGiving will consider it. If accepted (at the sole discretion of JustGiving) then JustGiving will provide You with a confidential security key ("API Key"). The Access Key and API Key are the property of JustGiving and will be revoked if You share them with any third party, if they are compromised, if You violate any Terms, or if this Agreement is terminated for any reason. You shall only be authorised to use the JustGiving API in a live environment in connection with the application which is approved through certification, if you do not submit your application for approval your Access Key will only work in our test environment. If You wish to use the JustGiving API in connection with any other application then You should make a separate request for certification for that other application. Your use of the JustGiving API will be controlled by Your password (which You will select) and user name ("Keywords"). We reserve the right at our sole discretion whether or not to issue any username to You. You are responsible for the security and proper use of all the Keywords and must take all necessary steps to ensure that they are kept confidential, used properly and not disclosed to unauthorised people. We are not liable for any loss of confidentiality or for any damages arising from Your failure to comply with these terms. You must inform us immediately if You have any reason to believe that any Keyword has become known to someone not authorised to use it or if any Keyword is being or is likely to be used in an unauthorised way. Further information on the certification process and other rules relating to the use of the JustGiving API and operation of Your application are set out at [http://apimanagement.justgiving.com/]. You agree to be bound by and comply with such rules as may be varied from time to time.

    2. LICENSE
    Subject to You fully complying with all of these Terms, JustGiving grants to You, as licensee, a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, personal, non-transferable and non sub-licensable right to download and use the JustGiving API to develop, reproduce and distribute applications ("Your Application") that interoperate, interface and/or connect with JustGiving.com or any other web property owned by and specifically notified in writing to You by JustGiving ("Permitted Use"). JustGiving is not, in any way, obliged to provide any update, enhancement, fix or improvement to the JustGiving API. Also, JustGiving do not guarantee the JustGiving API will be continuously available. JustGiving may, at its sole discretion and without any notice, alter, modify, cease to make available the JustGiving API or any part of it or require You to cease using the JustGiving API or any part of it. JustGiving reserves the right to limit the number and/or frequency of JustGiving API requests in its sole discretion. You agree to use your best endeavours to protect and maintain the value and reputation of the JusGiving API and JustGiving. You agree to JustGiving using your name and logo in the promotion of the JustGiving API and you grant JustGiving a non exclusive, non transferable licence to use such name and logo for such purpose. Unless otherwise notified to You during the certification process, JustGiving do not make any charge for use of the JustGiving API. Just Giving reserves the right to introduce charges at any time for any individual use of the JustGiving API or use of it generally. If you are not happy with such charges then you will be entitled to terminate this Agreement in accordance with paragraph 7 below.

    3. OWNERSHIP
    JustGiving retains ownership of the JustGiving API and all intellectual property rights, including without limit copyright, in the JustGiving API and all documents, software and materials provided by JustGiving to You from time to time. This Agreement is not an assignment of any of the intellectual property rights in the JustGiving API.

    4. RESTRICTIONS
    (a) The JustGiving API is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws and international treaties. Except as expressly permitted by this Agreement You may not copy or otherwise use the JustGiving API. (b) You may not without the prior written consent of JustGiving modify, adapt or translate the JustGiving API or reverse engineer, disassemble or decompile the JustGiving API or attempt to reconstruct, identify or discover any source code except and only as expressly permissible by law. (c) You shall not use the JustGiving API in connection with or to promote any products, services or materials that constitute, promote or are used for the purpose of dealing in: spyware, adware, or other malicious programs or code; counterfeit goods; unsolicited mass distribution of email; multi-level marketing proposals, hate materials, hacking/surveillance/interception/descrambling equipment, libellous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, abusive or otherwise offensive content, prostitution, body parts and bodily fluids, stolen products and items used for theft, fireworks, explosives, and hazardous materials, government IDs, police items, gambling, non-transferable items such as airline tickets or event tickets, weapons and accessories. (d) The use of the JustGiving API is licensed only to You and may not be transferred to anyone without the prior written consent of JustGiving which if granted shall only be on terms that it is on a permanent basis, that You retain no copies of the JustGiving API and that the transferee agrees to accept all the terms of this Agreement. Under no circumstances may You distribute, loan, sub-license, transfer, assign, rent, lease, sell, transfer or otherwise deal in the JustGiving API on a temporary or permanent basis except as expressly provided in this Agreement. (e) You and Your Application shall not in any way directly or indirectly: (i) damage, interfere with or disrupt the JustGiving API, the JustGiving website or any other products or services offered or made available by JustGiving; (ii) transmit any spyware, viruses, worms, Trojan horses; (iii) imply a relationship with JustGiving other than as permitted in accordance with these Terms; or (iv) criticise or disparage the JustGiving API, JustGiving or any of its services, products or affiliates. (f) You shall ensure that all Your use of the JustGiving API and the operation of Your Application is in compliance with all laws (including without limitation laws relating to protection of personal data).

    5. TRADE MARKS
    Nothing in this Agreement provides You with any right to use any trade mark, logo, service mark, trade name or any mark of JustGiving or any other party.

    6. INDEMNITY
    You shall be liable for and on demand release, indemnify, and hold harmless and keep indemnified JustGiving from and against all actions, claims (including without limitation claims made by third parties), proceedings, damages, liabilities, losses, demands, costs and expenses (including all reasonable legal costs and expenses) suffered, paid or incurred directly or indirectly by JustGiving as a result of or directly or indirectly in connection with Your use of the JustGiving API.

    7. TERM AND TERMINATION
    These Terms will become effective upon and apply to your application for certification. The Agreement shall continue until terminated by either You or JustGiving as set out herein. This Agreement shall immediately terminate automatically if You enter into any form of insolvency including without limitation liquidation, bankruptcy, receivership, voluntary arrangement, administration or are unable to pay Your debts as they fall due. You can terminate this Agreement at any time with immediate effect. JustGiving shall be entitled to terminate this Agreement with immediate effect at any time, for any reason including without limit if you breach any of the Terms and/or JustGiving consider that Your use of the JustGiving API is detrimental to the interests of JustGivng. Upon termination You shall destroy and remove from all computers, hard drives, networks and any storage media all access to the JustGiving API, including back up and modified copies of this access. At JustGiving's request You shall certify to JustGiving within two weeks of such request that all relevant JustGiving API access has been destroyed.

    8. EXCLUSION OF WARRANTIES AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
    THE JUSTGIVING API IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. THE EXPRESS TERMS OF THIS LICENSE ARE IN LIEU OF (AND JUSTGIVING AND ITS SUPPLIERS DISCLAIM AND EXCLUDE TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW) ALL WARRANTIES, REPRESENTATIONS, CONDITIONS OR OTHER TERMS EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMIT ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES AND/OR CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE). NO ORAL OR WRITTEN INFORMATION OR ADVICE GIVEN BY JUSTGIVING, ITS AGENTS OR EMPLOYEES SHALL CREATE A WARRANTY OR IN ANY WAY INCREASE THE SCOPE OF THIS WARRANTY AND YOU MAY NOT RELY ON ANY SUCH INFORMATION OR ADVICE. NEITHER JUSTGIVING NOR ANYONE ELSE WHO HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN THE CREATION, PRODUCTION OR SUPPLY OF THE JUSTGIVING API SHALL BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMIT DIRECT, INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES LOSS OF BUSINESS PROFITS OR INFORMATION BUSINESS INTERRUPTION OR ANY OTHER FINANCIAL LOSS), ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE JUSTGIVING API OR FROM ERRORS OR DEFICIENCIES IN THEM WHETHER CAUSED BY NEGLIGENCE OR OTHERWISE EXCEPT AS EXPRESSLY PROVIDED HEREIN (EVEN IF JUSTGIVING HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES). NOTHING IN THIS LICENSE SHALL EXCLUDE OR LIMIT THE LIABILITY OF JUSTGIVING OR YOU FOR DEATH OR PERSONAL INJURY RESULTING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF JUSTGIVING OR YOU RESPECTIVELY OR FOR FRAUD OR FRAUDULENT MISREPRESENTATION NOR AFFECT THE STATUTORY RIGHTS OF CONSUMERS. JUSTGIVING DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE FUNCTIONS OF THE JUSTGIVING API WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR THAT THE OPERATION OF THE JUSTGIVING API WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR FREE. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SELECTING THE JUSTGIVING API IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR REQUIREMENTS AND FOR THE USE AND RESULTS OBTAINED FROM THE JUSTGIVING API.

    9. ASSIGNMENT
    You shall not assign or otherwise transfer all or part of the JustGiving API access or this Agreement without the prior written consent of JustGiving. JustGiving expressly reserves the right to assign this Agreement and to delegate any of its obligations hereunder to any third party, without giving prior notice.

    10. WAIVER
    Failure or neglect by JustGiving to enforce at any time any of the provisions hereof shall not be construed nor shall be deemed to be a waiver of JustGiving's rights hereunder nor in any way affect the validity of the whole or any part of this Agreement nor prejudice JustGiving's rights to take subsequent action.

    11. SEVERABILITY
    In the event that any of these terms, conditions or provisions shall be determined by any competent authority to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable to any extent, such term, condition or provision shall to that extent be severed from the remaining terms, conditions and provisions which shall continue to be valid to the fullest extent permitted by law.

    12. MISCELLANEOUS
    This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between JustGiving and You relating to or in connection with the JustGiving API and supersedes and cancels all previous agreements and working arrangements whether oral or written, express or implied between the parties in respect of the licensing of the JustGiving API. JustGiving and You each acknowledge that in entering into this Agreement they do not rely on and have no remedy in respect of any statement, representation, warranty or undertaking (whether negligently or incorrectly made) other than as expressly set out in this Agreement. Clause headings are inserted in this Agreement for ease of reference only and shall not affect the interpretation or construction of this Agreement. The construction, validity and performance of this Agreement shall be governed in all respects by English law and the parties hereby agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts save that JustGiving may seek injunctive or other relief or remedy in the courts of any jurisdiction whatsoever.
